SALEM Handmade is a social enterprise that supports women from Mindo through sustainable work opportunities.
The women make shopping bags, SALEM t-shirts and many other fabric products, following social, ecologically sustainable and humanitarian principles. Thus, new work is created but most importantly, practical skills are taught that are needed everywhere. Our seamstress transmits her knowledge with great pleasure, which makes all participants excited to come to SALEM and participate.
Over the years we have managed to build up a well-functioning sewing studio. Our children and teenagers participate in weekly sewing classes and learn useful skills. Our sewing studio also serves as a meeting center for a group of women from Mindo and the surrounding area, where they can exchange ideas and learn the basics of sewing. Our professional seamstress offers courses and training for all participants on the one hand, and on the other hand, practical experience by processing small orders from local customers, such as, handmade clothing, bed covers or similar items.
