At SALEM Ecuador we believe that knowing and valuing cultural traditions is a fundamental part of the comprehensive education of children and youth. For this reason, every year we organize special activities to celebrate this date with depth and respect.
Colada Morada: the taste of memory
This year, the children of SALEM learned to prepare the traditional Colada Morada, an ancestral purple drink made with black corn, wild fruits, and aromatic spices. The preparation was quite an adventure: measuring, mixing, cooking, and sharing were moments of learning and connection with their identity.
Guaguas de Pan: figures of life
Along with the Colada Morada, the little ones also made the iconic Guaguas de Pan, sweet bread figures shaped like babies that symbolize the cycle of life. Each child decorated their guagua with bright colors, making the activity an artistic expression full of meaning.
A moment to remember
The day ended with a small ceremony where the children shared their creations, talked about their loved ones, and reflected on the value of memory and gratitude. It was a deeply human moment, reminding us that traditions are the thread that connects us with those who came before us.
