Our
Beginnings
Since 1999, SALEM has been committed to improving the quality of life of children, adolescents, and their families in vulnerable situations through holistic, interdisciplinary care rooted in a humanistic approach and an inclusive education model that shows other ways of life are possible.
"The future of children is always today. Tomorrow will be too late." Gabriela Mistral
COMMUNITY
SALEM is now an important part of the local community and is nationally recognized for providing excellent childcare, education, and social services for children, young people, and their families.
Our
History
Over the years, SALEM has become a place of love, care, and opportunity—a place where every child and adolescent can grow, learn, and dream freely.
Growing
Together
Cada paso de SALEM ha sido construido junto a la comunidad. Cada año sumamos nuevas experiencias, nuevos rostros y nuevas oportunidades para trasformar vidas y crear oportunidades.
Our story continues being written...
At SALEM, our experience has taught us the importance of long-term commitment. That is why all our projects are permanent and receive ongoing support.
About SALEM International
SALEM Ecuador is a project of SALEM International, a Christian nonprofit organization. It was founded in 1957 by Gottfried Müller and a circle of friends. Today, SALEM employs around 130 people in Germany and 250 worldwide.
Shared Values
All SALEM projects are connected by shared values of peace and help for those in need. In this way, SALEM actively works through global points of support to help people in difficult situations, regardless of their beliefs or nationality. Our work ranges from social, environmental, and health issues to nutrition, education, and development assistance.
Vegetarian Passion
"SALEM is probably the oldest vegetarian social organization in the Western world. From the very beginning, all our projects and facilities have served only vegetarian food. We believe in respect for all life and that no living creature should be harmed."
