Fernanda Tuarez is SALEM Ecuador’s culinary extraordinaire. She’s been cooking vegetarian meals for SALEM kids and staff for almost 2 years. Fernanda is 28 years old and has two small children. She grew up in Esmeraldas Province and her first memories of the kitchen are sitting on a stool, watching her mom cook. Fernanda was inspired my her mom’s cooking and is proud to say that today, her mom is fan #1 of her daughter’s creative, delicious and nutritious fare.
“Barriga llena, corazón contento. Full belly, happy heart.” Fernanda loves to serve the SALEM kid’s their favorite dishes when they come for an after school meal: Plantain dumpling soup, noodle soup, cakes, stuffed rice. Fernanda reminds us that “A healthy child is a happy child” and thanks to her big smile, creative and delicious menus and warm heart, our bellies and spirits are full at SALEM Ecuador.
